Keep Calm and Wed On

It’s true that weddings can really bring out the worst in people. As if planning a wedding isn’t stressful enough there is always one guest who gives you grief either in the run up to or worst still on the day itself. Trust us you are not alone. Make sure you keep your eyes peeled for these types of wedding guests who may be hiding on your guest list or at your party:

1. Stick to your guns when it comes to the guest list: There is always someone who wants to try and alter your guest list for you. Whether it means bringing their mother in their partner’s place or wanting to bring their children when you have already explained you have decided to have a child free wedding. Stick to your guns.

2. Don’t lower yourself to flaky guests:  There is always going to be one that for whatever reason doesn’t show up. Don’t let it ruin your day –  keep calm and wed on.  Whatever you do don’t start asking them to reimburse you for the money you have spent. You might not believe us, but all you have to do is read this story in OK magazine to see this kind of behaviour does happen and we are not making it up.

3. For all those single friends: Being single at a wedding is never easy, especially when you are surrounded by a room full of loved up couples. Make sure those single friends feel the love by putting them at a fun table including a mix of other fellow single friends and couples. You never know they might just end up meeting Mr. or Ms. Right!

4. Drunk guests: Suddenly you feel punished for your generosity of offering a free bar to guests when one of your friends just has one to many. Keep your distance and leave the responsibility of drunk guests to your fellow family members, bridesmaids and ushers. It’s your big day so make sure you put yourself first and let them look after you for a change.
Whatever happens, make sure you keep calm and wed on. If you know of that one friend or relative that may cause you grief, plan for the worst case scenario in advance by making them someone else’s responsibility.

Our wedding planners at Holiday Inn London – Wembley are there to ensure your wedding runs as smoothly as possible from beginning to end.
