The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, attended the Dawn Butler MP Gala Dinner, a fundraising event at the magnificent Empire Suite of the Holiday Inn London – Wembley.
Other VIPs in attendance included local councillors, members of the Labour party and Mr Shiraz Boghani, Chairman of Splendid Hospitality Group.
The fundraising gala, with over 270 guests helped raise money to send Christmas cards to 45,000 households in Brent Central.
In his speech, Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London spoke about his close friend Dawn Butler, who this year won MP of the year and thanked guests in attendance. He said: “The best of our city is building bridges across communities and our MPs need support to ensure they have the resources required to reach out to communities.”
Denzil Ratnam MIH, General Manager of Holiday Inn London – Wembley, said: “We are thrilled to have welcomed The Mayor of London and Dawn Butler MP at Holiday Inn London – Wembley. The evening was a roaring success.”
Entertainment was provided by the Local Brent Youth Singers, as well as up and coming comedian, Mr Cee. There was also an auction and raffle with the chance to win great prizes including a trip to Disneyland Paris.
Dawn Butler, Labour Member of Parliament for Brent Central, has invited children from across Brent Central to take part in her 2016 Christmas card competition. This is an annual tradition whereby local children submit artwork inspired by the story of Christmas. The winning entry is featured on Dawn Butler MP’s Christmas card which is sent out across Brent Central.
