Urban beaches are a fantastic way to enjoy the best of the capital this summer. Whether you are just passing through or staying with us for longer we have cherry picked the top three urban beach hot spots within easy reach of the Comfort Inn St Pancras – Kings Cross:
Camden Beach:Just three stops by tube, Camden Beachis located on the roof top of the Roundhouse by Chalk Farm tube. Entry is free, however like any beach it fills up quickly so be sure to get there early to grab the best spot for your deckchair. Alternatively splash out and upgrade to one of their beach huts. Get into the holiday spirit with some barbequed food and a cocktail or two. Families are encouraged to bring their buckets and spades and have a go at building sand castles. Beach East:Head over to Beach Eastat the iconic Queen Elizabeth Park boasting 2,200 square metres of sand. There is something for everyone with a giant paddling pool and funfair rides for kids. Travellers visiting during the Rio Olympics (6-21 August) will enjoy a tropical theme and can catch the games showing on one of the big screens. CopaCabana: TheCopaCabanaat the SouthbankCentre is one of the capital’s most famous beaches with a Festival of Love running until 29 August. Enjoy an abundance of Rio themed festivities with matching food and drink. Mine’s a Caipirinha, which in case you didn’t know is the National Cocktail of Brazil. However if it’s a real scorcher and you find yourself staying with us at the City Continental Kensington – London we recommend a refreshing dip at the Serpentine Lido in Hyde Park. While you are there you might want to grab a spot of lunch at the nearby Lido Café overlooking the Diana Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain and the Serpentine Lake.
