Hot Picks for Bonfire Night 2016

Bonfire Night – a truly magical time of year, and a great night out for the whole family. It doesn’t get much better than getting wrapped up in your coat and scarf, eating toffee apples and getting close with your nearest and dearest as you watch colours light up the sky.

Here are some of our favourite displays taking place across the UK this year.

If you’re in Northampton, check out The Gunpowder Plot at Boughton House. Now in its 4th year, the event includes mouth-watering treats, a comedic fire performance, the sounds of a live choral recital and of course a spectacular firework finale.

Meadow Bank is home to Edinburgh‘s biggest fireworks display and has been running for over 30 years. This year’s theme is Sci-Fi, and getting dressed up is fully encouraged; there may even be prizes for best dressed! For the more adventurous, make the hike up Arthurs Seat, where you get panoramic views of Edinburgh and the variety of firework shows on offer – but do be careful when going up or down in the dark!

For those of you in and around York, we recommend The Poppleton Centre bonfire and firework spectacular! Not only will there be a huge bonfire and plenty of fireworks, there’ll be a hog roast and live band too! The fireworks display will start at 7.15pm and live music will play until 9pm.

In Leeds, there are a variety of options, with the most popular being Roundhay Park, Leeds. Approximately 70,000 attend this display each year and the bonfire is lit at 7.30pm with fireworks following at 8pm. Afterwards, why not try out one of the many nearby pubs for a drink or a hearty meal to warm up.

If you are in London, you can head to a central London display in Bloomsbury at the playground where, famously, adults may only enter if they’re accompanied by a child. The display starts at 5.15pm with hot food and other refreshments on sale.
